LeadFox Connect — MCP for Marketo

We audit 100+ Marketo instances a year. The same pattern shows up every time: 40% of a MOPs analyst's week is spent on repetitive UI work AI could handle directly. So we built LeadFox Connect — the MCP server for Marketo. It brings Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other AI assistants into your Marketo workflow. 5-minute setup. Multi-instance. Closed beta now. Full product lives at leadfoxconnect.com.

Why we built it

LeadFox is a B2B Marketing Operations consulting agency. We've spent 15+ years inside Marketo, HubSpot, Pardot, and Eloqua instances — auditing them, fixing them, running them on outsourced retainers. Across 100+ engagements, we kept seeing the same pattern:

  • ~40% of a typical MOPs analyst's week burned on repetitive queries, exports, and ad-hoc reporting that could've been automated
  • ~25% on platform navigation — clicking through smart lists, smart campaigns, programs to find or update specific records
  • ~35% on actual strategic and creative work — the high-value stuff

Modern AI tools — Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor — are now sophisticated enough to handle the repetitive 65% directly, if they have the right access to the platform. LeadFox Connect is that access.

It's a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for Marketo Engage, built by the same team that audits and rebuilds Marketo instances for a living. Different team would have shipped a different product. We shipped the one we wished existed for our own consulting work.

What it does

LeadFox Connect is an MCP server that exposes Marketo Engage to any MCP-compatible AI client.

  • Query Marketo in natural language — leads, programs, smart campaigns, smart lists, analytics
  • Run ad-hoc analyses — “Show me MQL volume by source last quarter” without building a smart list
  • Update records and trigger actions through conversation
  • Troubleshoot routing and scoring — surface stuck leads, scoring anomalies, and integration issues
  • Multi-instance support — built for agencies and consultants juggling multiple Marketo tenants
  • Compatible with Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, and the expanding MCP ecosystem

Real commands practitioners run daily

> Show me all leads who filled out a form this week but aren't in any nurture program
> Audit my lead scoring model — what's the distribution look like?
> Find all smart campaigns that haven't run in 90 days
> What's the email performance for our Q1 webinar campaign?
> Create a new email in the April Webinar folder using template "Standard 2024"
> Show me which programs are driving the most MQLs this quarter
> Which leads have the highest engagement scores but no recent activity?
> Pull a list of all sync errors in the last 24 hours

Who it's for

  • In-house Marketo admins tired of being the bottleneck for everyone's “quick Marketo questions”
  • Freelance MOPs consultants juggling multiple client instances and the same audit/cleanup work across all of them
  • RevOps leaders looking to reduce time-to-insight on Marketo data
  • MOPs agencies building team productivity through AI tooling
  • B2B marketing analysts tired of building one-off smart lists for every ad-hoc question

What is Model Context Protocol?

Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard developed by Anthropic in 2024 and adopted broadly across the AI ecosystem in 2025–2026.

Think of it like USB for AI: instead of every AI tool needing custom integration with every business system, MCP standardizes the connection. Any MCP-compatible client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf) can use any MCP-compatible server.

For Marketo, an MCP server (like LeadFox Connect) exposes your instance — leads, programs, smart campaigns, smart lists, assets, analytics — to any AI client you point at it. The AI client reads data and executes actions in real time, with your Marketo API credentials.

About the team that built it

LeadFox Connect is built and operated by Shay Assor and the LeadFox team — a 6-person boutique B2B MOPs agency with certified Marketo Solutions Architects on staff and 15+ years of practitioner experience across Marketo, HubSpot, Pardot, and Eloqua. Past client work spans Wix, Check Point, AppsFlyer, Payoneer, and other B2B leaders.

We're practitioners first, software builders second. The product reflects that — every tool surface and command is built around real day-to-day MOPs work, not procedural API wrapping.

See the agency's services and client case studies for the engagement track record. The product is at leadfoxconnect.com.

How to set it up

Three steps. Real timelines.

Step 1: Sign up for LeadFox Connect

At leadfoxconnect.com. Closed beta — onboarding small batches of practitioners with founder-led, hands-on support.

Step 2: Connect your Marketo credentials

You'll need Marketo REST API credentials — Client ID, Client Secret, and Identity URL — from a service-account API user. Per Marketo's documentation, this typically takes 10–15 minutes if you have admin access. Credentials are stored encrypted in AWS Secrets Manager — never in databases or logs.

Step 3: Add LeadFox Connect to your AI client

For Claude Desktop, edit the MCP config file at ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json (Mac) or the equivalent on Windows. LeadFox Connect provides the exact config block to paste in. For Cursor and Windsurf, the steps are similar. Restart your AI client. Type a Marketo command. You're in.

Get started

LeadFox Connect handles steps 1–3 in about 5 minutes once you have your Marketo API credentials.

MCP vs. native Marketo API integrations

You've been able to integrate AI with Marketo for a while through the REST API directly. Why does MCP matter?

ApproachSetup timeAI compatibilityBest for
Native Marketo REST APIDays–weeksWhatever you buildCustom enterprise pipelines
Zapier / MakeHoursLimited AI; mostly automationSimple workflow triggers
LeadFox Connect (MCP)5–15 minutesAny MCP-compatible AI clientConversational ops, ad-hoc analysis

Where this is going

Per Gartner's 2026 forecasts, 40%+ of B2B operational queries will be served by AI assistants rather than direct UI use by 2027. Marketing operations is one of the fastest-moving segments because the work is so repetitive and the data is so structured.

For MOPs practitioners, the call is simple: get hands-on with MCP in 2026, before it's a competitive requirement in 2027.

Need help adopting MCP into your Marketo workflow?

If your team is evaluating MCP for production MOPs work — or thinking about how it fits with your overall marketing operations stack — the 30-min scoping call is the easiest way to talk through it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is LeadFox Connect?

LeadFox Connect is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for Marketo Engage. It exposes your Marketo instance to AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and Windsurf.

Marketing operations teams query leads, programs, smart campaigns, and analytics using natural language, run ad-hoc analyses, and trigger updates through conversation. Practitioner-built, multi-instance, ~5-minute setup. Full product at leadfoxconnect.com.

What is Model Context Protocol (MCP)?

An open standard from Anthropic that lets AI apps connect to external systems. Think of it as USB for AI — one standard interface, any compatible client. Spec at modelcontextprotocol.io.

How is LeadFox Connect different from Adobe's announced Marketo MCP?

Adobe announced its Marketo MCP at Adobe Summit 2026. LeadFox Connect is independent and ships today — practitioner-built, multi-instance support for agencies, works with any MCP client (not just Adobe's ecosystem), self-serve signup. Adobe's is expected to require Adobe Experience Cloud and enterprise procurement.

What can I actually do with LeadFox Connect?

Real commands practitioners run daily through their AI client:

  • “Show me all leads who filled out a form this week but aren't in any nurture program”
  • “Audit my lead scoring model — what's the distribution look like?”
  • “Find all smart campaigns that haven't run in 90 days”
  • “What's the email performance for our Q1 webinar campaign?”
  • “Create a new email in the April Webinar folder using template ‘Standard 2024’”

Anything you'd normally do by clicking through Marketo's UI, you can do through chat — usually in seconds instead of minutes.

Which AI clients does LeadFox Connect work with?

Any MCP-compatible client — Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, Continue, and an expanding ecosystem. Latest compatibility list at leadfoxconnect.com.

Is my Marketo data safe? Where does it live?

Pass-through architecture — your Marketo data flows directly between your AI client and your Marketo instance. The server doesn't store your data. Only tenant credentials are stored, encrypted in AWS Secrets Manager, never in databases or logs.

How long does setup take?

~5–10 minutes once you have your Marketo REST API credentials (Client ID, Client Secret, Identity URL) from a service-account API user. Full setup guides at leadfoxconnect.com.

Will MCP replace Marketo's UI for marketers?

Not entirely. MCP is best for repeatable analytical, audit, and operational work. Marketo's UI stays right for strategic work and complex creative configuration. Realistic split: MCP for ~60–70% of daily MOPs work, UI for the rest.

What does it cost?

Currently in closed beta — no cost to participate. Paid plans will be priced per connected Marketo instance at a practitioner-friendly rate; beta users get the best deal at GA. Full pricing at leadfoxconnect.com.
